Montana Tech- The University of Montana
Keynote Speaker: Barbara Blacklock
“Access for College Students with Psychiatric Disabilities: Creating Campus Change”
Barbara Blacklock holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling and is licensed in Minnesota as an Independent Social Worker. She has worked in the field of disability services for 30 years and is currently the Program Coordinator to the University of Minnesota’s Academic Health Center programs. Barbara will be exploring the dual role of the disability services provider: to facilitate reasonable accommodations and to work collaboratively with campus allies to reduce campus barriers for students with psychiatric disabilities. She will review best practices for determining and arranging reasonable accommodations and will share the findings from a federal grant that can be used to support and guide campus change. Participants will be provided structured exercises to assist them with exploring their existing campus partnerships and to identify how these partnerships can be used to create campus change.
